Diversity in student bodies, teaching community, and staff is important for DBIM to fulfill its mission of providing quality education at par with the best management institutes in the world. The reasons why DBIM believe so strongly that diversity should be one factor among the many considered in admissions and hiring include:

• Diversity enriches the educational experience by allowing us to learn from those whose experiences, beliefs, and perspectives are different from our own. These lessons can be best taught only if a richly diverse social and intellectual environment is made available.
• Diversity promotes not only personal growth but also a healthy society. It challenges stereotyped perceptions by encouraging critical thinking. Students can develop their communication and cultural skills by dealing with people from different backgrounds.
• Diversity helps strengthen communities and the workplace. Education within a diverse setting prepares students to become good citizens in an increasingly complex, pluralistic society; it fosters mutual respect and teamwork; and it helps build communities whose members are judged by the quality of their character and their contributions.

DBIM has consistently managed to attract over 20% of its admitted students from states outside Assam. Over 30% of the admitted students in each batch are female graduates. The institute has achieved this diversity on college campuses without any quotas or admission of unqualified applicants. The four consequitive best B-School awards earned since 2009 vouch for the quality of the students and the success of the diversity DBIM cherishes.

The presence of the Salesians of Don Bosco in over 180 countries in the world allow DBIM to invite visiting and guest faculty from across the globe. The knowledge shared by these invited intellectuals provide students with a global experience within the state. DBIM students have undegone classes conducted by faculty from Germany, Italy, Australia, Denmark, The United States of America, The United Kingdom and a number of other developed countries.
